Welcome to Ofsted’s new blog focusing on developments in education inspection. We’re launching it at a time where we’re making radical changes to the way we inspect.
Firstly, we’re working hard on a new common inspection framework, which will come into effect in September 2015. This will integrate the way we inspect early years education, schools and further education and skills providers.
Second, we’ve been testing new shorter, frequent inspections for good schools and further education providers.
But that’s not all. We’re also busy selecting and training a whole new cohort of what we’re calling Ofsted Inspectors, and we’ve been encouraging current education practitioners to take up the opportunity to become inspectors themselves.
Busting myths and highlighting issues
Over the coming weeks and months we’ll discuss the forthcoming changes, carry on busting some of the myths about Ofsted, and look at other aspects of our work like good practice examples and our thematic survey reports. We’ll be shining a light on particular burning issues for the education providers we inspect.
It’s an exciting time and a great opportunity to make our inspections even more effective and help push for better outcomes for the country’s children and learners.
Your comments on the blog will be a great way to stimulate the debate and let us know what you’d like to see discussed.
